Take me out to the ball game...

Yesterday we went to enjoy a nice dinner at CCF. We didn't realize that it was the Bellevue Arts Fair so after dinner, we walked around to walk off our dinner. Every year, we try to go to the Arts fair and get a sign personalized by a vendor who sells cute signs. This year, we got a cute lavender sign that says "no soliciting" and an adorable football sign that says "Ely's Room". A husband and wife sells these signs and have been selling at the Bellevue Arts Fair for 15 years. We've been buying signs from them since we've moved into our current home. They make very cute signs and you can get signs personalized. :)

We enjoyed a nice day a the ball park in the cool shade. Ely watched the baseball game but mostly he watched people. Every time people clapped, he looked over them confused by it. He likes to clap to and it make him laugh. His clap isn't as loud so maybe that was why he was so confused. The game eventually got boring for him and he took a long nap (we were losing).

It was a very good baseball game! Daddy bought him a youth size bball cap that Ely will wear to his bbal games (infant size didn't fit). We enjoyed a fresh cold lemonade, very garlicy fries and a very very huge nacho.

It was nice to out at our first baseball game with Ely but it was too bad that the Mariners were doing so poorly. We weren't going to stay the entire game because we needed to go to a friends' b-day party but we weren't feeling too bad about leaving our nice seats behind.

Afterwards, we headed over to Lake Bowen Park for Jeff & Martin's b-day party. We met baby Olivia and had a chance to lay the babies down together on a blanket. Ely grabbed at her dress. Ely chatted away as I played tennis (for the first time in 3 years & in flip flops). He cheered me on as I was running around in flip flops. Unfortunately, my team lost but I was glad that I was still able to play after a few years of not picking up a racket. I am anticipating a sore arm in the morning.

Ely got to bed a bit late but I set up the Cloud B Twilight Turtle that we got in the mail today :P in his nursery. It was amusing enough for Ely because he stopped crying to stare at the stars. Pretty amazing!

It was a nice relief that it rained for a little bit but it got very humid and muggy. We'll try to stay nice and cool in the upcoming 90+ temperature.

Cough cough!

Ely has had a nagging cough that has made him gag and throw up (a lot). After a call into the Dr.'s office, I was told to bring in Ely right away for a checkup. When I went to the Learning Center (LC) to pick up Ely, Parisa had taken Ely out for a stroll ride. Evidently Ely had a huge blowout and his mattress was being aired out. I wasn't too happy to hear that Ely had "the Hulk" blowout. Ely came back from the stroll ride and was happy (flapping arms and all). He certainly didn't look sick.

Luckily it turned out that Ely has a mild cold virus and no ear infection or fluid in his lungs. We just need to give him a warm bath and use the humidifier in his room.

We were able to get Ely measured during the Dr. visit and it looks like I didn't measure him accurately at 5 months.

At 5 months, 1 week & 1 day old:
16 lbs 4 ounces
27 1/4 inches

Sleep update:
Ely has been sleeping from around 730-5am/6am. He cries for only 10 minutes or so before falling asleep (versus an hour). Today, he has been sleeping for the last 1 1/2 hours (the longest nap we've had in a long time).

5 Months Old

Ely is 5 month old today!

There's been lots of changes since last month while some things haven't changed. It's quite amazing how fast Ely is growing. It has been exciting watching him become more aware of his surroundings.

At 5 months Ely is:
16.5 lbs -between percentile 25 and 50
26.2 inches -between percentile 50 and 75
(I'm not a 100% sure that the measurement is accurate. I wouldn't surprised if Ely has a "huge" growth spurt next month because I measured inaccurately this month.)
This month Ely:
-Talked to Charlie and was very excited. He flapped his arms and squealed at Charlie.
-Crawled on this back and moved around in a circle. (He has only done this at the learning center. We have yet to witness this at home.)
-Likes to flap his arms and down. At times he will hit me and he would repeatedly do it. He also hits the wall during diaper changes. He pretty much likes to hit anything that makes a sound (including a 'hah-yah!' on Charlie. Charlie didn't mind).
-We're still working on sleeping through the night thing. He slept 8 hours one night and it was heavenly. He usually sleeps 5-6 hours...not so happy about it but we've become accustomed to it (dark circles and all).
-We are very thankful that he is a happy mellow little boy. He doesn't fuss very much and isn't very demanding.
-At the learning center, Ely has determined that he is not a little baby anymore and doesn't belong in the baby's corner. He cries when he is in the corner because he wants to be with his older friends. Most of them are 8-9 months old and are all moving about (rolling, crawling, dragging, etc.). Mayboobae had Ely on the tumbling playmat next to the older babies and one of the babies decided to crawl over Ely. She said that Ely didn't mind it at all and was very amused by it. He likes to watch the other babies play and whenever he hears a new sound, he turns his head to the direction of the sound. She thinks that once Ely is mobile, he will be a very busy baby. Even when he is outside, he would turn to the sound of the chirping birds and look very curiously at the birds.
-During this month Ely lost lots of hair and had a huge smiley face bald spot. I shaved his little head and saved the clippings for the scrapbook that I will make eventually.
-We went to Canada and had a relaxing trip. I packed way too much clothes, toys, and diapers for the short trip but the good thing was that I didn't forget anything (even had his nail file & snot sucker).
-He recently started to suck on watermelon. He likes it a lot. Today he even bit down on it and took a little chunk off (I had to take it away so he wouldn't choke on it).
-He has figured out that we react to the funny little things he does. I had him on a blanket doing some tummy time. He quickly rolled over to his back and refused to do tummy time. He wanted me to hold him so I ignored him. He then decided to collect his saliva and spit. I ignored him again. He tried coughing a couple of time. When that didn't work, he flapped his arms and legs up and down.
-He likes to spit and laugh when I wipe off his mess. He does this at the learning center as well.
-Ely loves shower time. He grabs the shower head and run his hands through the water. He likes to splash his hands in the water.
-I think Ely will be able to ready to eat rice cereal soon. We are still waiting for his neck to get stronger and be able to hold his head up. He still leans over to his stronger side (right side) and can't sit up straight. He loves to watch us eat and when we eat something crunchy, he raises his little eye brows and look at us. He also likes to suck on my spoon. Maybe he will be ready in a month. :)
-He is laughing more now and reacting to the silly sounds and faces we make to get him to laugh. He also likes to be lifted up into the air but he is getting heavier to lift. Sung may need to take over the lifting game soon because Ely is getting to heavy for me.
-This month I used Ely's flat head as an excuse to buy a Phil&Ted Vibe stroller. Luckily I was able to sell the Bob stroller for the price I got it for and best of all, I was able to buy the Vibe from a Costco warehouse pretty much 30% cheaper than the best price I can find elsewhere. Good 'ol Costco! It took lots of phone calls and a little begging to get the stroller shipped from California for free. The cool thing about the stroller is that there is another seat that I can attach to the top or the back of the stroller for baby #2.

We are so grateful that Ely is a sweet baby. There isn't much that upsets him. He saves his little temper tantrums for 2 in the morning but even that's not that bad (maybe because we're too tired to care?).

He loves to smile at people and isn't scared of strangers. He studies their faces and smiles at them once he's figured out who they are. He smiles at me every morning when he wakes up. He also smiles at Mayboobae and every morning she says to him "thank you Ely for your smile". He is in good hands. :)

I can't wait until he starts eating food and watch his little expressions. I think he'll be moving around a lot more and rolling all over the house. That's going to be pretty funny. Maybe he will play chase with the dogs. Maybe Charlie will start rolling too.

What a weekend!

We went to Canada over the weekend. We headed over to Richmond after work and got there in good time. After a quick feeding, we headed over to the Night Market in Richmond. At first we were worried that there wasn't going to be a lot of people there but once we got near, there were a ton of people everywhere. It was a bit like Bite of Seattle but with way more Asians. We tried lots of Yakitoris. I liked the Osaka balls the most.

Here are the boys still asleep.

Once we got back, it was close to midnight and Ely konk'd out until 2am.

On Saturday we had din sum for brunch (yum!). Ely watched people and kept amused. After eating lots of din sum we walked it off at downtown Vancouver. I carried Ely in the Ergo and tried to shop while he cried. He fell asleep eventually and I was able to get some shopping done. While we were resting at a coffee shop, a fire truck went roaring by. Ely woke up startled and had the biggest wide eyes. It was pretty funny. Luckily he was tired enough that he fell asleep again.

After we walked off the din sum we headed over to our 5pm reservation at Shabusen. Ely slept through the dinner and let us enjoy our dinner. Of course Sung and I tried to get our money's worth and ended up eating way too much. We swore off eating at Shabusen again. It was just so much food.

On Sunday we ate at Hon's Noodle House. They make there own noodles there. The crispy noodle was really fresh...and sooooo crunchy. Yum! After another quick shopping and a stop at the pastry shop, we headed home.

The drive wasn't bad at all. The wait at the border was just about an hour and the drive back home was nice. We were greeted by a small hail storm once we got near our home. Hail storm in the middle of summer? Luckily the weather was very nice in Canada and we had lots of fun there.

Ely's first trip out of the country went very well. :) 4 1/2 months old and he's already been to Canada!

Ely's new look

Ely's hair has been falling out. He also had a huge bald spot. Last night I shaved Ely's head. Now Ely is sporting a shinny bald look.

Baby Madison touched Ely's head and laughed. Charlie licked Ely's head, thought about it, and licked him a couple more times.

Hopefully Ely will a full head of hair soon.

Loving the weather

Last night Ely didn't sleep until 1030pm. He watched Sung put on a fireworks show for us and fell asleep once we were done. He loved watching all of the bright colors and turned his head to the sound of the fireworks to watch the show. We had a perfect view of the neighborhood in front of us who were blowing up beautiful fireworks. There may have been a park to the left of our house because they blew up huge fireworks.

The dogs were not happy and refused to go outside for potty breaks all day. They hid inside the den closet and waited for the fireworks to stop.

Enjoy the show~

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!

It's so nice out today. Is this the first time in a while that it's been sunny on 4th of July?

Ely slept for 8 hours last night! Too bad we didn't sleep early too. It was too warm in second floor so we slept downstairs. We brought down Ely's co-sleeper and he slept quietly for 8 hours. It was 5am when he woke up. The question of the day is if he will repeat this again. Will he or won't he?

Toby and Charlie were excited about us sleeping downstairs. They like to cuddle up with us because they were freaked out by the fireworks. Poor boys.
